Leone Farrell

Making the Connection

Dr. Leone Farrell was an accomplished Canadian biochemist who improved techniques for preventing communicable diseases. Her crowning achievement was inventing the “Toronto Method”, which made possible the large-scale production of the first polio vaccine in the early 1950s.
